May pitch ideas

With summer around the corner, start thinking about how you can position your business for the summer season and look ahead to early fall (yes, long lead publications are already thinking fall, holiday and beyond!).

There are many opportunities to go after seasonal press coverage for small businesses. To get started, identify which of your products or services are most relevant during each key season of year? What holidays are coming up that are a fit for your business? How can you be a resource and provide expert tips around seasonal themes?

Use our list of summer themes below as a starting point to outline pitch ideas to send this month. Before you start sending pitches, take time to pull together a well-researched media list to make sure your emails are going to the right contacts. A media list will also keep you organized as you begin outreach and follow up.

*Pro Tip: You can use excel or Google Sheets to create your media list. Download our free media list in our Beginners Guide to Doing Your Own PR to help you get started.
